Why I’m thinking of paying for Buffer

I’m thinking of paying for Buffer because I currently run several social media accounts for myself and clients and since hearing that Hootsuite is now limiting the amount of free scheduled messages.

I’ve been using Hootsuite for a few years because you’re able to schedule updates to Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram.

I love the fact that as a small business owner I could schedule tweets on all social media platforms to go whenever I wanted them to without having to sit at my computer 24 hours a day.

One of the best reasons is was the fact that there was no limit on the number of messages and that this service was free.

Up until now, you could sign up for a free account you were able to schedule up to 350 posts at one time.

Rather than posting when you get a free moment in your day, you can set some time aside at the beginning of the week and schedule everything in, meaning you can then tweet or post yourself in-between your recorded content.

The changes to Hootsuite means that when you hit 30 messages, you are not able to schedule any more until a message is published or deleted.

There is now a counter which tells you how many messages you have left.

I’m seriously considering paying for Buffer because it’s cheaper than upgrading to Hootsuite.

The social media app is $10 per month (£7.50).

Paid plans include extra features, and they have other plans such as ‘Teams’, ‘Business’ and ‘Enterprise’ that each offer more social profiles and additional features as you work your way up.

Buffer is easier to use

Buffer specialises on the social messaging side of things, and Hootsuite focuses on social media management which includes scheduling, engaging and monitoring.

If you aren’t able to devote much time to social media and you want something that is super quick for scheduling updates, Buffer is a great way to go. It’s simple, fast and efficient.

The idea behind Buffer is that you set a schedule and add posts to your “Buffer” then posts will be scheduled at the intervals you have chosen.

You can connect Buffer to Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Google+ and App.net.

Simplicity is what makes Buffer such a great tool.

It doesn’t require advanced training, and there’s only a small learning curve involved, so it’s user-friendly and self-explanatory.

Anyone can use this tool regardless of their social media skills, and you can schedule social messages quickly and access basic reporting.

Paid plans add team collaboration, higher message limits and better analytics.

The Buffer browser extension a feature called the “Power Scheduler” which makes it easy to schedule multiple social messages across different times and accounts.
