5 Great ways to monetise your blog

How-to-Monetize-Your-Blog

Have you ever dreamt of quitting your job and working on your blog full time? Follow these 5 great ways to monetise your blog, and your dream could eventually come true.

Ads

You can earn a small amount of money by adding ads to your blog if your readers click on your ads and purchase products or services. However, to use ads, you have to be self-hosted.

Many people use Google Adsense, and once you are approved, you can create and add ads in your blog posts that are relevant to your readers.

To get approved for Google Adsense make sure you have a privacy + disclosure policy!

Be warned that you won’t become a millionaire overnight and you need to be patient and wait until your following grows before you can earn a decent income.

Working with Brands

Digital Classic has worked with a few brands, and we love reviewing them and sharing new technology products. I started contacting brands by looking out for opportunities on Twitter and Facebook.

If you use the hashtags #bloggersrequired or #bloggerswanted, there might be the perfect opportunity for you to work with a suitable brand or join some Facebook groups such as UK bloggers.

You can also contact and pitch to your favourite brands directly if you have some free time.

Affiliates

Becoming an affiliate is another great way to monetise your blog.

You can sign up for a number of affiliate campaigns such as Share a sale, Amazon and Apple.

All you have to do is post their links in your blog posts everytime you mention a product that they sell.

Don’t just shoehorn the links in, make sure that they are relevant to your articles.

How does Affiliate marketing work?

Every time someone clicks on your link and purchases a product or service, you receive a percentage of this.

You need to make sure that you have a significant blog following for this to happen otherwise you won’t earn any money if you don’t have an extensive blog following.

Blogging for publications

Why not become a guest blogger and work for other blogs and websites.

Blogging for other websites has many advantages such as you can get paid to write for them, and some offer a link in return for a blog post.

Many prominent publications such as the Huffington post feature your by-line which will put you in pole position for other paid work if you need it.

Social media

Yes, that’s right. You can make a living out of managing social media.

If you are good at strategy, offer your services to other bloggers and businesses that might not have the time to dedicate towards their social media, and offer to manage it for them.

Make sure that you come up with examples and a decent social media pitch.
