Reseller concert tickets sites should be banned!

viagogo

My sister and I learnt a harsh lesson about booking tickets on reseller concert sites after ticket master had sold out before they were supposed to open.

I was so excited when I was sent an email by Ticket Master at the beginning of this month saying that Pearl Jam was performing at the 02 arena in London next summer.

Tickets for the concert were supposed to go on sale on Friday. However, when we got to the site at 11, we found no tickets available, and it directed me to another reseller site that claimed they were also selling them.

My sister goggled Peal Jam tickets thinking surely they can’t have sold out already.

The first website that came up in the search engine was Viagogo.

The process was rushed, and they kept saying that you have to hurry, and sold out kept flashing up on my sister’s screen.

She went through the process and paid only to find out the transaction had disappeared and didn’t go through.

She tried again and finally got through, but our seat numbers never came up.

I became immediately suspicious, and when we looked at Viagogo, we found nothing but negative reviews.

My sister emailed Viagogo, and they then said they had no record of the email address she used to book the tickets with.

My brother-in-law then contacted his credit card company, Barclays, who at first said they couldn’t cancel the transaction, even though it was pending and that he would have to wait for his money back until June if we didn’t receive our tickets.

He then asked to speak to the manager, who told him that they would not take the money out and send him a claim back form to fill in and get the money back.

My sister checked her husband’s credit card on Monday and found that despite saying they wouldn’t, Barclays had allowed this transaction to go through despite being warned that Viagogo is a bogus company that sells fake tickets.

Firstly why didn’t google ban bogus websites, and secondly, why are companies such as Barclays allowing their customers to be conned by these sites.

Thirdly, I thought the artists, especially Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder was against ticket touts.

I heard that people in the club had access to the tickets earlier, with some people being lucky enough to book both nights, which isn’t fair for those who want to buy the tickets.

Ticket touts had brought all the tickets and sold them at ridiculous prices on Viagogo, Seatwave, and Hubspot sites.

My sister, brother-in-law and myself are disgusted that Pearl Jam are allowing tickets to be sold on reseller concert ticket sites.

We had waited four years for them to come back to the UK to play, only to find out the tickets were gone before they were supposed to go on sale!
